OUR thanks go to Robin and Susan Warren for these fantastic photos of the Balmoral entering the Wye.

They write: "Three times this summer the cruise ship Balmoral has been scheduled to enter the Wye. This is part of a Three Rivers and Five Bridges cruise from Penarth.

"The ship then crosses to Clevedon and goes up the Avon, passing under the M5 and Clifton Suspension Bridges, before entering Bristol.

"It then makes the return journey to the Severn and passes under the Second Severn Crossing before coming under the Wye part of the Old Severn Bridge.  Once in the Wye it makes a three point turn and returns under the bridge, ready to turn left and go under the Severn part of the Bridge before returning to Clevedon and, ultimately, Penarth.

"The final cruise will be on Wednesday, September 7, when the Balmoral will come under the bridge into the Wye at around 4pm."

•We did report that the schooner Kathleen & May would be passing Lydney last Wednesday, but she berthed at Sharpness at 2am last Tuesday morning according to the harbour master. Hence she did not appear in daylight for the many watchers who turned out.
