MONMOUTHSHIRE county councillors have voted to keep disabled parking free across the county.

Other decisions at the cabinet meeting included suspending ‘free hour’ parking in Chepstow and delaying plans to create 30 minute free parking spaces in Glendower Street car park in Monmouth, both pending financial assessment.

Welsh Street car park in Chepstow will continue as a long stay car park and not be converted to short stay. The council also plans to introduce electric vehicle charging points, subject to future income analysis and affordability, in one car park in Abergavenny, Chepstow and Monmouth.

The feasibility of a discounted car park charge for rail users parking in the station car park, Chepstow will also be assessed and implemented.
