LYDNEY schoolboys Richard and Tom Hopkins are training hard to take part in the kick boxing world championships to be held in Rome next year.

The boys are following in the footsteps of their father, Richard 'Deadly Dick' Hopkins, who is a master of the sport. Both youngsters already hold a number of titles for their age groups.

Both boys are unassuming about their successes. Tom explains: "It comes naturally to us as we have been kick boxing since we were very small. We both like it and one of the best things is that we get to travel all over the world."

Whitecross headteacher Olivia McQuillan said the school would be watching with interest the progress the boys make in the championships next year.
