AS a resident living at the lower end of Plump Hill I would like to make some observations regarding the road works on the A4135 at Plump Hill.  Readers have said that they had not received any notice of these works so they obviously have not read the signs that have been flashing for a few weeks,  and that it would be better to be done during the night time. Perhaps those people would like machinery outside their homes all night? I think not!

My main point however is since the road has been closed it appears that many motorists may be breaking the law with regard to eyesight.  They cannot read the signs which are set up at the mini roundabout and also at the end of Baynham Road, which clearly say, 'Road Closed Ahead.'

Do they not know what this means?  Today, Monday, a large HGV even chanced his arm by driving through, only to cause a jam whilst trying to turn round at Jubilee Road.

I appreciate these roadworks are an inconvenience but better the road is closed to ensure safety for all.  It is dangerous enough on the bends at the top when two HGVs try to pass on normal days, without them having to negotiate road sweepers, lorries collecting the old surfaces etc.

Have a thought also for the men trying to carry out their work and keep everyone safe. It is not their fault the road has been closed and I'm sure they do not like having to turn drivers around.
