A NEW Breathe Easy group has been established in the Forest of Dean with the aim of supporting and offering information to those with breathing difficulties.

The group in one of over 200 nationwide assisting people to cope with everything from mild asthma to lung cancer. They say that as many as one person in seven is affected.

Forest group chairman John Griffiths, of Cinderford, said the group aimed to provide a network of friends, advisers, events and activities to support sufferers.

It was hoped, he said, that as the group became established activities would include fundraising, social events and campaigning.

Members of the Forest group meet on the third Tuesday of every month (2pm) in the Avon Suite at Great Oaks Hospice, Coleford.

A fundraiser has already been held. Members and guests enjoyed a buffet and dance at The Speech House which proved a great success.

"We would like to say a big thank-you to everyone who contributed in any way to making the event such a success," said Mr Griffiths.

The group is planning to meet in the garden of a member's home in Longhope in August.
