IN response to the article 'YOUR money – THEIR roads' in the Review of 22 March and the apparent plans of Welsh Assembly Conservatives to consult on tolls income before the Severn Bridges are returned to public ownership after 2017.

I am mystified as to why one consideration is for the current toll system to be retained with proceeds financing Welsh infrastructure projects. The 'old' Severn Bridge links South Gloucestershire to the Forest of Dean, neither of which are in Wales, the only part entering Wales being the completely unexceptional bridge across the Wye.

Surely the Forest of Dean Council should be insisting that revenues from the 'old' Severn Bridge should be shared with South Gloucestershire and not hijacked to Wales that already gets much higher levels of assistance than those coming to the Forest.
