IT has recently been announced that the unfair Severn Bridge tolls will once again be increased.
Cars will now have to pay £6.50 per journey, while heavy goods vehicles will have to pay £19.20.
The Welsh Liberal Democrats believe that once the bridges come back into public ownership, these tolls should be scrapped completely.
They are a clear hindrance to Welsh businesses and it is estimated that scrapping the tolls would boost the South Wales economy by around £107 million.
For this reason, I am shocked that in the Welsh Lib Dem debate in the National Assembly, Nick Ramsay AM voted against scrapping the tolls. Instead his party, alongside Labour and Plaid would keep the tolls as a cash-cow. That is completely unacceptable.
In the General Election, it is only the Liberal Democrats that will remove these tolls which are an unfair tax on entering Wales.
