IT took extra time and the dreaded penalty shoot-out to decide this cup final thriller played at Broadwell. Against all predictions Westbury upset the applecart and returned to Severnside worthy winners of the Sandoe Cup.

Huntley head the league above Westbury's struggling Reserves who have not enjoyed the best of seasons.

Tipped by most local soccer pundits to be on the wrong end of a cup final thrashing, Westbury dug deep to turn in a remarkable performance. Three times they came from behind and then won the penalty shoot-out to guarantee the wrong sort of hangover for Huntley.

"It was stunning. It's results like this that make football what it is. In so many ways it was a remarkable match and an unforgettable occasion," said Westbury manager Clive Tempest.

Westbury's first-half goal came from Dave Evans but the Severnsiders still trailed 2-1 at the interval. Felix Otero made it all square and took the game into extra time.

The deadly accuracy of league top scorer Marc Matthews put Huntley back in the driving seat but a Jay Watkins penalty took the game to a penalty shoot-out.

Step up Richard Brown. With the scores level at 2-2 his golden penalty strike sent Westbury's fans and his team-mates on a celebration night to remember for years to come.
