COALWAY Kids’ Club has received a cash injection of at least £30,000 to give it a new lease of life.

The club, which is within the grounds of Coalway Primary School, has been re-built to replace the former building which was in a very poor condition.

Treasurer of the club, Debbie Huson said: “After many months fundraising the club, with kind assistance from local companies, has recently installed a ‘new’ building.

“The previous building was in a very poor condition but now we have a building that is clean, warm and dry and decorated on the exterior with a Gruffalo frieze.

“There is still work to be done on the outside areas and we desperately need further parent involvement to sit as committee members and for continued fundraising activities.

“The building itself cost approximately £26,750 which was mostly funded by a grant from Gloucestershire County Council. We have also spent an additional £2,000 on the interior.”

The building is used for child care (before and after-school), family support workers coffee mornings and, from January, parent and toddler sessions.

Debbie added: “We still need to raise money at least £3,000 for skirting for the outside of the building, re-boarding of the floor and swapping the heating units to ones with timers.

“The club relies an awful lot on donations and parent support and it would be lovely if we could raise its profile.”
