LYDNEY'S Jingle Fest, the giant street party organised by the Lydney Traders' Association, proved another great success on Saturday. It was so good plans are already being made for next year's event!

Described by Association chairman Lyn Callow as "simply fabulous", the Fest featured a variety of great musical acts, dancing displays, a hog roast and, of course, plenty of stalls for shoppers to browse and enjoy.

Lyn said the six hour show in the town's Newerne Street had proved a major success and a boost for traders.

It was the third year of the Fest which, said Lyn, would be even bigger and better next year. "We are talking to the council and traders and I would love to think that next year's event will also feature a street parade," she said.

"Importantly it didn't rain and it helped to attract a smashing crowd. Everyone joined in and gave the acts and dancers great support. Ellie Higgs and Tom Browning were lovely and the dancers and band attracted lots of attention," she said.

Competition prizes were donmated by local businesses and helped raise £150 which is to be given to Lydney Town Hall's Appeal Fund.
