A DEMONSTRATION against potential fracking in the Forest will be held on Saturday, October 10.
Campaigners Frack Off Our Forest (FOOF) invite people against the proposals to sell onshore and gas licences covering 10km of the Forest to meet them at the Cyril Hart Arboretum, near Speech House Hotel, at 10am.
Spokesman for Frack Off Our Forest, Owen Adams said: “The onus is on us to keep up the pressure to try and prevent Petroleum Exploration and Development Licences (PEDLs) being granted here. This includes asking those with an ear to Government – including our MP Mark Harper and Gloucestershire county councillors – to help us make the case that fracking is unsuitable and unthinkable here.”
The deadline date for the consultation closed yesterday (Tuesday) and two anti-fracking activists will explain community strategies to oppose fracking during a public meeting tonight (Wednesday) from 7.30pm at the Miners’ Welfare Hall in Cinderford.
The group will be taking part in the Resilient Futures area of the Forest Showcase Food and Drink Festival at Speech House this Sunday (October 4).
