AN exhibition of fascinating photographs of the Severnside village of Awre will be the centrepiece of a fundraising event to be held at the Village Hall on May 4.
Organiser Mark Awre says the display will give an insight into activities in the Severnside village over the past 150 years.
Mr Awre is inviting anyone with old postcards or photographs to contact him so that they can be included in the display.
"It promises to be a good day. In addition to the exhibition there will be sideshows and this will include a competition to win a pig," he said.
Mr Awre is seeking information from anyone who can name the soldier on the right in this charming photograph thought to be of three young men from the village.
"We know the names of the other two, Tom Cadogan and Eddie Hughes, who both lived in Awre. We know the soldiers were in the South Wales Borderers and it is probable the man we cannot identify was also from Awre," he said.
