GLOUCESTERSHIRE Police were called to an incident on the A48 opposite the turning to Tutshill on Sunday (February 4) morning after a car ended up in flames in a hedge.

An eye-witness reports that an ambulance with a flashing light, travelling east towards Lydney, was forced to swerve after a car came towards it on the wrong side of the road.

Police confirm that they received reports at 7am from paramedics that a car travelling westbound had spun out of control.

A police spokesperson said: “The dark blue five-door Vauxhall Corsa went through several trees and the air bag deployed before it ended up in a ditch. The paramedics went to the scene and found the driver’s door open and the keys in the ignition, but no one was in the vehicle.

“The fire service attended when the car caught fire. A helicopter search was carried out at the scene.

“The registered driver of the vehicle has been identified and was ascertained to be uninjured. We’re not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
