COMMITTEE members of Ruardean Carnival are already planning ahead for the annual event on August 13.

Ten-year-old Grace Morgan, of Ruardean, will be this year’s carnival princess and her attendants will include Alys Horton-Bussey, aged five, and Charlotte Rankin, aged eight, both from Ruardean Woodside.

Seven local organisations were also chosen to each receive £200 of funding from last year’s event.

The causes included Ruardean Youth Club, 1st Ruardean Brownies, Ruardean Acorns, Ruardean War Memorial Hall, 1st Ruardean Guides, Ruardean Play Area and Friends of Ruardean School.

As well as providing £1,400 of grant money to local organisations, Ruardean carnival committee will also be providing £1,000 towards community defibrillators in both Ruardean and the Pludds.
