Drybrook 37, Old Colstonians 28.

DRYBROOK were crowned Gloucestershire Premier League Champions after their victory over a surprisingly tenacious visiting outfit.

Playing against the stiff breeze Drybrook went ahead in the second minute through an Ed Williams penalty and seven minutes later the same player added another penalty following a silky break from centre Tad Chapman.

Colstonians belied their lowly league status by making a real game of it and it took Drybrook until the 25th minute before they scored their first try.

The Moore brothers Craig and Carl combined on half way to send winger Jamie Roberts scampering clear for a try in the corner.

Williams' magnificent conversion put Drybrook 13pts ahead and they soon added to this score when scrum half Carl Moore touched down after being put into space by skipper Neil Morgan with Williams again adding the extras.

On the stroke of half time Colstonians exposed some weak tackling to score a try under the Drybrook posts.

Ten minutes into the second half Carl Moore grabbed his second try of the game when he rounded off a free flowing move that started deep in Drybrook's half.

With Drybrook on the attack again, Roberts and Williams made a mess of dealing with a hurried clearance kick and the ball bounced kindly for the Colstonians winger who ran in for a try from the half way line.

Drybrook hit back and scored straightaway when winger Simon Rugman touched down in the corner under a pile of players with Williams adding the conversion.

Drybrook kept up the pressure on Colstonians and Rugman soon raced over for his second try following another good handling move.

At 37-14 Drybrook were cruising but to their credit Colstonians ran the ball whenever they could and they were rewarded for their efforts with a try in the corner after breaking out from their own half.

With the game entering the last minutes Drybrook threw everything into attack and another score seemed inevitable but the visitors had the last word when a timely interception from near their own line led to another try and a somewhat misleading result on the score line.
