SCHOOLCHILDREN who won a Macmillan cake painting competition received their prizes from staff at Hale and Co recently.

Sue Arnold and Neil Sherrington of the Drybrook-based builders’ merchants delivered the good news to two children at Mitcheldean Endowed Church of England Primary School and one at English Bick­nor Church of England Primary School.

This year’s annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, in aid of Macmillan, raised more than £520 but this year Hale and Co invited local primary schools to take part in a ’design your own cake’ competition.

First prize infant winner Daisy Holt at English Bicknor and first and third prize junior winners Antonia Williams and Natalie Knight, of Mitcheldean Primary School, each received an art set.

Both schools received a £25 voucher and all the pupils who entered also received colouring pencils.

Headteacher of English Bicknor Primary School, Hayley Alliston said: “Well done to all the children for their fantastic, imaginative designs.”
