CHURCH worshippers from Cinderford gathered recently to celebrate two years of the Churches Together movement with a special service at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church.

The theme for the 2003 service was chosen by an ecumenical group in Argentina, where there have been many waves of immigration which have affected not only the national context but also the lives of the churches.

The service was led by Father Jim Halpin (Roman Catholic) with members of St Stephen's and St John's and Baptist and Methodist Churches taking part.

The preacher was Rev Dr. Alison Evans (Baptist), Gloucestershire County Ecumenical Officer, and the organist was Sister Celestine.

Rev Cecil Mundy (chairman, Methodist) recapped on events during the past year and talked about future events.

There were many comments about the great feeling of togetherness, which exists in Churches Together in Cinderford, and all look forward to the next "together" event.

This will be Lent Bible Study group which commences at Wesley Methodist Church at 7.30pm on March 12 for five consecutive Wednesdays.
