THE Wesley Players brought their version of the story of Dick Whittington and his cat to the stage at the Miners’ Welfare Hall in Cinderford.

The show, Dick Whittington was the Players’ 63rd annual outing and was directed and produced by Lynne Teague with the assistance of Louise Bullen who also took the title role.

Lynn also adapted and updated the script which was written by Elsie Olivey who was one of the founder members of the group.

The story focuses on the adventures of Dick and Suki the cat (Kim Owston) as they leave behind Pauntley for the bright lights of London.

The show also featured Phil Probert as Alderman Fitzwarren and Sita Claridge as his daughter, Alice, and the object of Dick’s affection.

It featured a cast ranging from young children to more experienced actors, singers and dancers.

The show was choreographed by Kim Owston who, along with Sita Claridge, also trained the chorus.
