I?FEEL compelled to write to you to express my disgust at the state in which I found the new public toilets in Coleford the other day.

I live in the Coleford area and was shopping when I was taken short and walked into one of the female/male toilet cubicles at about 10.30am on Monday and was disgusted by the general smell and dismal cleanliness of the cubicles so I went to the adjacent cubicle and found that to be in just a sad a state.

This block of toilets is barely one year old and is sadly, it seems, deteriorating to the same condition of the old conveniences.

I am not sure who cleans and who supervises these toilets but they are not doing the job they are being paid for. As a local resident I feel embarrassed especially at the start of the tourist season. Why do we in the Forest have to put up with second best?

This toilet block was out of commission for some considerable time whilst the refurbishment was being done and must have cost thousands to bring up to standard so why are they being allowed to become grimy like the previous ones?

Whoever is responsible for these conveniences please clean up your act and stop the Forest's credibility disappearing down the pan!
