THE council is conducting a survey about waste disposal. Good idea? No not really.
They did one about two years ago. I pointed out then that in Germany they treat waste as a valuable resource and they make money out of it.
I pointed out that all waste is put out for collection in one container.
This is mechanically sorted into metals, plastics, cardboard, paper, compostable materials, etc.
The rest is burned to provide energy. No more unnecessary journeys to recycling areas, burning valuable fuel and wasting valuable time.
I also suggested that the council collects trade waste free because there is more money to be made from that as the now deceased Cllr George Read did in a private capacity.
My conclusion is that the survey, itself costing money, is a con to suggest that the council is being democratic when we all know that it is a cabal run by a few people.
Did you try and lobby your councillor over the Allaston development? The Sedbury development? The Northern quarter development?
You will have found that you were wasting your time unless your councillor happens to be on the planning committee.
Quite correctly, the law requires such expensive developments to go before the full council but guess what? Your so called democratic council is anything but.
