DISTRICT councillor Georgina Bensted says the gloves are off in the fight to track down once and for all the source of the notorious Bream smell.

Frequently blamed by locals on a chicken farm, Cllr Bensted wants the Environment Agency to pinpoint the source.

"I'm not saying it is the chicken farm. However, this matter has now been going on for years and it is time for a solution. People have had enough," she said.

Cllr Bensted said the Environment Agency was carrying out monitoring.

"The smell is often at its worst in damp weather. I want them to identify the source. When that has been established we can take the necessary action and get this matter resolved," she said.

Cllr Bensted said Bream residents should report smell incidents to the Environment Agency or to her.

"This has been going on for too long. This time I hope a satisfactory solution can be reached quickly," she said.
