I WOULD like to share my disbelief at the local development of seven houses taking place at School Lane, Ruardean.
The fact that houses are being built is of no concern, but the way this development has been allowed to go ahead is a different matter, after learning they have yet to obtain the access needed to continue this site.
The access is only one problem I can see. The access in question can only be obtained by taking part of the front garden of an elderly couple living at the entrance. The couple have said they have no wish to give up this land. But the pressure is now getting too much.
Another matter is the safety of local children and the public alike. The lorries to this site have to come out on a very bad corner. They are restricted to only making a right turn, no left turn is allowed.
This means they have to come down the road and turn at the top of a small estate, Norman Way, where I live.
You have to see this plan in action to believe its absurdity. This, you might think, isn't too bad as a temporary measure whilst the houses are being built. But no, this is a permanent arrangement – residents, deliveries etc to this site will have to do this in the future!
My concern now and for the future is the safety aspect. As my child travels this road to school, I am worried for his safety.
I cannot comprehend that this bizarre plan for this very bad corner has been allowed to go ahead.
I personally think the council, highways, or whoever thought this was a good plan, should think again.
Ruardean is a thriving community and I am proud to live here and hope to spend the rest of my days here.
If you have any concerns or views on this subject and you live near this development, there is an Action Group meeting on June 13 at 7pm at No. 1, Norman Way. Please come along as this does affect you. – Mrs L. Hale, Norman Way Action Group member.
