HERE is all that is left of Alvington and Woolaston Cricket Club's roller after a visit by thieves.
The crooks made off with the engine and front rollers, leaving behind only the seat and rear rollers and in the process putting the club in deep trouble as plans are now being made to prepare the wicket for the new season.
"It is great blow to us. Bob Crook, our groundsman, puts in hours to make a really good wicket but his efforts will be lost without the roller," said club president Charlie Edwards.
"It must have taken at least two men and a van to take the roller away. And they must have spent some time at the scene to dismantle it."
The roller cost the club over £1,200.
"We would welcome information from anyone who knows anything about the theft," said Charlie who can be contacted on Dean 529062, (mobile 0468 000854).
