I see it is now time to have a go at the cyclists. We have had the motorist, sheep owners, dog walkers, motorbikes, ramblers and the boar.

I have been a dog walker, a rambler and I am a cyclist and, as always, there is good and bad in all using the Forest and the roads around.

I am a keen cyclist. I cycle 60 to 80 miles each week in and around the Forest and, yes, I try to abide by the following code.

1 Be courteous. Always cycle with respect to others, stop where there are dogs off leads.

2 Give way to pedestrians leaving them plenty of room.

3 Remember that many people are hard of hearing.

4 Have a bell on your cycle and use it, but do not surprise people.

5 Always respect other land activities and take your litter home.

6 Always wear a helmet for your own safety.

7 The Forest is there for everybody, so enjoy it. Please do not spoil it. I hope I am considerate to all I meet and, yes, I do have insurance and am a member of the C.T.C. – David Fisher (76), Bells Place, Ruspidge.
