A DAFFODIL in a Beachley garden is certainly no shrinking violet.

The flower is in the garden of Mrs Elizabeth Morris in Inner Loop Road and measures an impressive 38 inches (96cm) from the ground to trumpet.

Daffodils usually grow to between 18 and 27 inches (45-68cm) and Mrs Morris's specimen is 11 inches taller.

The garden is home to many clumps of daffs but the giant has had to fight its way up through the shade of a tree.

Keen gardener Mrs Morris said: "It came up under a tree so I expect it is searching for some sunlight."
