DANCE shoes were tapping in Drybrook as local children took part in the village school's first Dance Festival.

The children worked with dance teacher Sarah Shaw to choreograph a creative interpretation of the term's themes.

The themes included mining in the Forest, Victorian times, graffiti and toys.

Children from Woolaston School joined them with a performance to the Madness song Baggy Trousers.

Pupil Jack Beech said: "This dance show is brilliant because everyone in the school actually dances. Everyone gets up on to the stage and has a go."

Pupil Jed Gazzard said: "I do get a bit nervous before a performance but the whole school will cheer you on and give you confidence. I always feel great after dancing."

Head Sara Albon said: "Our children love to express themselves through dance. The experience really brings our creative curriculum alive."
