SANDRA Leppington is absolutely right. The British people are long overdue a referendum on the EU.

What is it about Westminster polititians of all persuasions that makes them deaf and blind to public opinions once elected?

The Eu Parliament and Commissioners move regularly from Brussels to Strasbourg and back again at vast expense. Why? No one asked us.

There are more than 20 unelected EU?Commissioners including Baroness Ashton who is responsible for Foreign Policy. Why? No one asked us.

They want to spend £58 million on a House of European History. Why? No one asked us.

The EU gravy train rolls on and on except that we have just lost a train manufacturing contract to Germany. No gravy for us and certainly not for the splendid engineers who will lose their jobs in Derby.

Our Westminster warriors just bend the knee, doff their caps and sign the cheques. The EU just bends the rules, spends the cash and certainly does not ask us.
