ORGANISERS of an event to mark the 60th anniversary of Coronation Gates at Bathurst Park in Lydney are hoping to find people who were at the original celebration.

The gates to the park were presented to people of Lydney by John Watts in 1952 to commemorate the Queen's coronation on June 2 1953 and they were formally opened by Viscount Bledisloe later that month.

A celebration of the anniversary is planned by Lydney Town Council for Sunday, June 9 at 2pm and will include light refreshments.

Watts Group chairman Mr John Thurston said: "The organisers would particularly like to extend an invitation to anyone who was at the original event or remembers it."
