AFTER 11 years of being prize winners in the Ross On Wye Gold Award for the best dressed window, Essential Sewing Services have finally scooped the top slot with a first prize for their Jubilee display.

The Gloucester Road shop was presented with the prize – a crystal and silver rose bowl – by the competition organisers, Ross In Bloom.

The winning window display was the inspiration of staff member Anne Rhead, who created it using red, white and blue fabric, ribbon, wool, retro knitting and dress patterns, and a selection of the haberdashery sold in the shop.

Shop owner Helen Kiddy, who is a founder member of the Association of Ross Traders, already has her eye on a future competition: "We'll have to get our thinking caps on for the Olympic window," she said.
