DOG owners in and around Parkend are being warned after a dog suffered several wounds from a "sharp instrument."
The Forest of Dean Boar Saboteurs contacted the Review to warn people.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon around 3pm when the unknown offender approached the garden fence of a house between Parkend and Moseley Green.
It’s believed the female Golden Retriever started barking and the offender slashed its ear with what could be a knife.
The dog ran back into its owner’s house when the owner came outside and confronted a white man wearing jeans and a brown coat.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: "We have begun enquiries into the incident and understand the dog required treatment on its ear. The injury could be from a knife although it was not seen."
Anybody with any information should call the police on 101 quoting incident number 435 of March 16.
