I HOPE that the recent spate of letters on dog fouling will have some effect, but I fear otherwise.
I am not surprised that 'Dog Lover' of Coleford sees no difference between dogs, horses and sheep when it comes to mess on roads.
"Horse manure in the middle of the road"? If only – try walking along our grass verge and right up to the gate. As for the herbivorous sheep – again, if only. There is no comparison.
I really wonder if dog owners have lost their senses of sight and smell.
I watched a couple unload three dogs from their car on to Cinderford's Linear Park.
They stood by quite happily while one of these immediately defecated by the path, where people walk and children run and play. Are they unaware that children run along paths and forest tracks, off into the grass and back, around trees and gates, along ponds and streams?
Everywhere near a car park and along paths out of towns and villages is caked with the stuff.
How do you get across to these irresponsible dog-owners how anti-social this is? – Another dog lover, Cinderford.
