SO we are to lose three Forest police stations – Coleford, Cinderford and Lydney.
All our police officers will be based at a redundant council office building, a building of no use to the council, but OK?for the police.
I remember when the old police station closed, there was, quite rightly, a public outcry for a replacement police station for Lydney.
A?new police station was provided. What a waste of time and money, now that is set to go.
The usual reason is given – "We need to make cuts, to save money, to keep to our budget."
Now the Police Authority, I?presume in due course, will sell the three police stations for hundreds of thousands of pounds. The money they receive will be deducted from the money they receive from Government and council tax funds, therefore allowing those funds to be put to a worthwhile cause, like care of the elderly or repairing our crumbling schools.
Will this happen? I doubt it very much.
