A MAN who was recorded doing 146mph on the main road between Monmouth and Newport has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Garron Duane Grovers was clocked by a speed camera on the A449 near junction 24 of the M4 at the Coldra.
Grovers, aged 30, appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 18 where he admitted dangerous driving.
The Hereford man was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for two years, and 100 hours of unpaid work.
Inspector Lee Ford of Gwent Police said: "This is a clear example of dangerous driving that leads to death and serious injury on our roads.
"This particular offender showed no regard to his own or any other road user’s safety.
"Go Safe enforcement officers deploy to approved areas to reduce speed to save lives."
