TRUE Blue has said he will no longer be writing letters on the subject of the European Union.

It seems all he can think about is money. He says he does not want to see this country in financial ruin which is what he imagines will happen if we leave the EU.

But we had a recession in 2008 and we were members then and the EU didn’t lift a finger to help Britain.

Why did they not pump unlimited into the British Treasury? They didn’t have it and would have helped if they had.

Their Eurozone partner Greece was hauled over the coals over a spot of economic difficulties – the EU had no intention of helping Greece without stringent conditions and that was with Spain, Portugal and Italy toppling towards financial ruin and other beginning to wobble.

The EU is obviously no answer to a country’s financial problems, so why bother with it?

The EU Commission has not had its books cleared by the auditors for 20 years – how can we trust them to get anything right?

Yet Romania and Bulgaria were yapping at the heels to be let in because they wanted Britain to pay up.

The £350 million figure everyone was talking about during the referendum was never put in its proper context.

It was only ever used as a suggestion that the NHS might be one of the recipients if we left the EU.

The point of quoting that figure should have been to emphasise two facts: Britain pays in more than we get back while others get more back than they pay in which means the EU pays for nothing in this country and Britain and Germany pay in more than any other members.

Theresa May should repeal the European Communities Act 1972 and tell the European Commission Britain is no longer a member of their discredited organisation.
