THE close families of young Cystic Fibrosis sufferers are running fund-raising events which will also highlight the condition.

Little Daniel Feltham, 8, of Lydney is living with Cystic Fibrosis which inflicts a considerable daily treatment burden.

Daniel's mum, Deborah, said: "Daniel has been extremely lucky in that he has only needed two hospital stays for intravenous antibiotics so far. Many children with Cystic Fibrosis require hospital stays every three months.

"However, last summer was a particularly worrying time when he was rushed to Bristol Children's hospital following a collapsed lung. Fortunately he has made an excellent recovery."

A charity ball is being staged at Forest Hills Golf Club on Saturday June 11. Tickets can be obtained from the offices of Gwyn James Solicitors in Cinderford, Coleford or Ross on Wye.

All money raised will help the Cystic Fibrosis Trust continue to fund medical research.

Grandmother Jayne Dutton of Newent and her cousin Jamie Reynolds of Sedbury are holding a Cystic Fibrosis Week jumble sale at Sedbury Village Hall this Saturday (May 14, 2pm) on behalf of granddaughter Chloe.

"We are trying to raise enough money to buy her a special vest which will help with the physiotherapy she has to do twice a day.  The vest is called the Hill-Rom Vest and costs approximately £6,000," says Jayne.
