UP to 36 new homes could be built on village farm land if planners give approval.

The owners of Netherend farm in Woolaston have applied for outline permission to replace the farmhouse and buildings near the Netherend Inn and build on a V-shaped site.

The 1.18-hectare site, which includes some grassland, was formerly used as a dairy and buttery, but is currently used for cattle rearing, and the storage of machinery and hay,

A report to Forest planners says: “The scheme will ensure that the development sits comfortably in the centre of the village and regenerates a previously developed site.”

If the land is developed, the current use of the site will be relocated to Ross House, Woolaston, subject to a seperate planning application.

The report states: “Its redevelopment should be able to benefit the overall appearance of the locality as well as providing a suitable new mix of dwellings.”
