LYDNEY'S ever popular church fayre has again been voted a huge success. The event made a profit of around £2,700.

The money will be divided between Lydney's St Mary's Church, Holy Trinity Church, Primrose Hill, and the churches chosen charity for the year, Hope for Tomorrow.

Judy Gazzard, chair of the Forest of Dean Hope for Tomorrow supporters' group, opened the Fayre.

The church included displays of flower arrangements, paintings andˆ photographs.

In the adjoining Old Vicarage garden there were items from Lydney's Training Band, Severnbank Cygnets and Worship 24:7.

Stalls sold a wide range of goods and there were refreshments and sideshows plus a little mystery.

The draw was won by 'Julie', ticket number 05490. However the accompanying telephone number was incorrect. ' If 'Julie' telephones Dean 843389 she can claim her prize!
