MONMOUTH Festival finished on a high on Saturday, with the final two bands drawing in record donations, but organisers are worried that there is still a shortfall.
Director Mark Williamson said: “Saturday’s headline act Skinny Lister delivered a sensational set, turning the night into a ceilidh of punk, folk and indie music, with the whole audience bouncing along. I got on stage ahead of them though to make an impassioned plea: nine nights of great weather, fantastic entertainment and big crowds were not reflected in the amount raised in the buckets.
“The audience responded generously with just under £4,800 collected. This was a record amount for a single night but we need another £5,000 to be sure that the 2017 festival is secure.”
Mark is asking any one who wants to get involved in keeping the festival running – as a sponsor, volunteer, or member – to email [email protected]. If you do so, you’ll secure an invite to the meeting planned for August 25. Donations to support the festival can also be made at www.monmouthfestival.co.uk.
