ARMED police seized a firearm and other items in a raid on a house in Cinderford.

Witnesses said Ruspidge Road was closed by officers between Hart Green and St White’s Road at the time of the raid yesterday evening (Wednesday, July 31).

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said a warrant was executed at the property "following concerns raised by members of the community."

Inspector Andrew Hodgetts said: "The operation was planned and contained and the safety of members of the public was not compromised.

"No arrests have been made at this time and investigations continue.

"Anyone who has concerns about suspicious activity in their community should contact their local neighbourhood officers or contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101."
