REDBROOK Angling Club (RAC) is holding a free junior coarse fishing taster event, for those aged six and over, on Saturday May 21.

The event has been sponsored by Redbrook Village Trust from funds raised at the Live on the Wye music festival and is free to attend. Ian Childs of RAC says: “It is being held at a local lake near Monmouth with all the equipment, bait and professional tuition provided, so participants only need to bring themselves along.

“Previous events have been really successful and, in the run up to the long school holidays and National Go Fishing Month starting in July, we’re running structured sessions. This means supervised tuition can be given in one and half hour slots a for a maximum of six participants at any one time. Spaces are limited and have to be booked in advance, with the club.”

The event will be run, with qualified, CRB checked and insured coaches from the Young Anglers Project, so a rod licence or fishing permit is not required.
