THE newly formed Harrow Hill under 18s team will be putting in some extra training after last week's football lesson from Alveston who beat them 1-5.

The youth team has been formed to bring together some of the most promising young footballers in the area and to offer them the opportunity to play in the highly competitive Midland Floodlit Youth League.

Like Harrow Hill, Alveston were also new to the league this season but they adapted quickly to last Thursday's downpour and won the game comfortably. Harrow Hill's lone goal was scored by Justin Hayward.

The team produced a much more accomplished performance in their opening match when they visited Stratford and drew 2-2 with goals from Stuart Cooke and Dave Drewell.

Team manager Gary Hurcombe was delighted with the performance and says the competitive nature of the league will help players to establish themselves in senior football. There has already been a spin-off for Harrow Hill as Chris Addis and Scott Hurcombe have been included in first team squads this season.

The squad is to have an extra training session before their next Floodlit League game when they visit Evesham on September 18. The next home match is at Larksfield Road on September 25 when Pegasus Juniors are the visitors.
