AT least five emergency crews raced to Birdwood on the A40 after a 20-year-old driver was involved in a head-on collision.

It’s thought five people were injured in the collision, which happened outside the Kings Head pub at around 12.55pm on October 3. Police are now appealing for witnesses.

A silver Ford Fiesta car driven by a 20-year-old man collided head-on with a blue Citroen C4 driven by a man in his 60s. The Ford driver was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with injuries and his condition is described as serious but stable. The driver of the Citroen and the front seat passenger, a woman in her 50s, were taken to Southmead hospital in Bristol. Their injuries were initially described as life-threatening, however their conditions have improved and that is no longer the case.

Two teenage girls travelling in the back of the Citroen were taken to Gloucestershire Royal with minor injuries.
