A NEW flotation centre where people can literally cast their cares adrift has presented a medical ambulance service with £150 raised from its launch day.

Float in the Forest is the first flotation centre in the county and has been launched at the Princess Royal Industrial Estate between Whitecroft and Bream by Shari Vandervelde and Will Griffin.

As part of the opening of the new age stress busting attraction, they raised £150 for Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC).

Shari, from Cinderford, said: “GWAAC is an excellent local cause doing fantastic work, and we felt that the health and wellbeing angle worked well with the physical and psychological benefits of floating. Thank you to everyone who contributed.”

Flotation is a relaxation therapy where you float effortlessly on the surface of warm salty water.

The couple obtained planning permission to convert an industrial unit in 2017, and finally realised their dream by opening Float in the Forest in February.

Flotation tanks are large pods containing hundreds of gallons of water and 1,100 lbs of Epsom salts which allow people to float more easily than a dip in the Dead Sea.

“Floatation is a type of relaxation therapy where you float effortlessly in warm salty water. It relaxes the muscles and calms the mind, and who among us doesn’t need that?” said Shari.
