THE Forest Council held a flag-raising ceremony to mark Commonwealth Day on Monday.

Chairman of the Forest of Dean District Council, Cllr Jane Horne, read the Commonwealth Affirmation before raising the flag outside the front of the council offices in Coleford.

The day is an opportunity to promote understanding on global issues, international co-operation and the work of the Commonwealth’s organisations, which aim to improve the lives of its citizens.

Cllr Horne said: “I was delighted to be a part of this celebration of Commonwealth Day.
