A NEW group taking action against litter in the Forest is hoping others will follow their lead.

The group, dubbed the Forest Wombles, have collected more than 100 bags of rubbish in just a few days in the areas around Parkend and Moseley Green.

They are the latest of a number of volunteer groups taking a stand against litter in the district.

They have set up a Facebook page called Forest Wombles and are hoping others will take action in their areas and post pictures of their efforts on the page.

Group member Matt Sleeman said: “The Forest is a beautiful place but seeing all this litter is really depressing.

“If we can clear the litter, hopefully people will be less likely to drop more.”
