A FOREST artist has designed a 25 foot 'Scrumpty' to celebrate the Rugby World Cup.

Lydney mum-of-two Rachel Shilston, 43, is producing the sculpture as part of the 'Where's Scrumpty Trail?' which celebrates the Rugby World Cup, as some of the games will be played at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester.

After spending 40 hours decorating sculptures of Shaun the Sheep as part of the Shaun in the City trail, her five foot 'Baa-Bushka has gone on display alongside 50 sculptures on the streets of London.

Rachel said: "I was looking in the dictionary for puns and a play on the word 'Baa'. I came across the term Babushka, meaning a headscarf tied at the chin and it also made reference to Russian dolls or Matryoshka dolls. With my background in textiles and my love of pattern and colour, I immediately began to visualise a highly-patterned Shaun called Baa-bushka!"

Rachel's sculpture 'Baa-Bushka' is on display in Carnaby Street, London until May 25.

Rachel added: "My husband Adie and daughters Lily (14) and Mollie-Mae (11) are so proud of my work and we can't wait to see my Shaun out in the wild on the streets of London."

Her Scrumpty character is based on the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme character and will feature alongside many other designs – with a number of the sculptures being auctioned off for charity.

Rachel said: "The designs have been selected, but I can't say what I'm doing just yet."
