RELAY For Life Forest of Dean have been honoured for the second time by the American Cancer Society in the prestigious International Heart of Relay Awards.

Relay, which runs popular fundraisers in the Forest, scooped the second runner-up prize in Mission Delivery (Cancer Awareness and Information), an award they won in 2009.

"This is testimony to all of their continued hard work in healthy lifestyle messaging in a fierce competition between 22 countries around the world, and an absolutely fantastic achievement for our local fundraisers," says spokesman Lynne Garner.

Relay chairman Neil Garner said: "We strive to deliver our messages in fun and creative ways, and our teams embrace this – we are completely blown away to have been given this award and it will inspire us to continue to fight back and help beat cancer."

Relay For Life Forest of Dean will be starting it's 2012 campaign with an informal get together of all past participants/teams and any interested newbies at Whitecross Leisure Centre in Lydney at 7pm on Monday, January 16. Everyone is welcome.
