AN online petition that calls for kerbside recycling of plastic and cardboard waste materials in the area has been started on the Forest of Dean District Council's website.
It aims to garner 800 signatures – which would ensure that the matter is debated by the council.
The full wording of the petition details were posted online last week. It reads: "We the undersigned petition the council to improve the recycling facilities in the FODDC for cardboard and plastics as other councils do.
"The current facilities for the above are very poor at the moment for the needs of the residents in the FODDC area compared to other councils in the region. i.e. Malvern Hills, Tewkesbury etc.
"More households would be inclined to recycle should it be made easier for them as the containers are filled up far too quickly and most people cannot make the effort and therefore fill up their black bin."
It adds: "To improve the recycling facilities by making it kerbside would help your targets for recycling as well.
"Using the old style refuse lorries to crush the plastic/cardboard would also reduce the 'bulkiness'; of the products."
The petition runs until the end of the month, and it can be found at the council's website under Council and Democracy, or via the search facility.
So far 89 people have signed the petition.
