A CHEPSTOW man puts a big Lotto scratchcard win down to a weird piece of luck.

For months, 21-year-old Stuart Parsons had been seeing the numbers one to four and he eventually put his luck to the test at a shop in Tutshill.

His hunch paid off when he bought four £4 million Blue cards at the Spar in Beachley Road and won £100,000.

Stuart revealed he will splash out – on a new Mini Cooper for his girlfriend.

He said: "It sounds so weird telling the story now but for the past couple of months I have kept seeing the numbers 1 2 3 4, whether it's 12.34pm on my phone, 1,234 mileage on the work car or registration documents.

"Most people would call it a coincidence but it was starting to freak me out a bit!

"It's bizarre but on the day I had the win, I purposefully made my girlfriend stop the car and told her I'd walk to her house.

"It didn't make sense for me to want to do this but I really felt I needed to buy the Scratchcards, even though I don't usually play them that often, I guess subconsciously I knew that the 1, 2, 3, 4 wouldn't work as Lotto numbers. I walked straight in and asked for one from each of the first four dispensers on the counter – no messing. It was number one that delivered the £100,000 win."

Stuart, who still can't believe his good luck, took some time convincing his friends and family that he'd won.

He said: "When I revealed the winning prize I was in absolute shock. I went to a friend's house and they wouldn't believe me, even my girlfriend couldn't believe the news even when I showed her the card."

Most of the win has already been invested but there will be a few gifts. Top of the list will be a little something for his two older brothers and a present for mum who Stuart still lives with. Although Stuart will be buying himself a new TV there are no plans for a new car for himself.

"I really love cars and have a Subaru Impreza. Unfortunately, it's been off the road as I couldn't afford to run it but this win will mean I can get it back on the road and start enjoying it again. But I will buy one new car, a Mini Cooper for my girlfriend."

Despite his own doubts about the strange powers at play that lead to his win, Stuart said there is another combination of numbers that keep coming up in his daily life. Will he play them again? "Very likely, but I'm not telling what they are!"
