IN reply to the letter in last week's Review headed 'Back our smokers,' may I say on behalf of the relieved non-smokers, millions of them, thank God smoking is, at last, banned from public rooms and transport! It was high time our human rights were considered.
When I think of countless evenings with friends, of dances, cinema visits and journeys by bus and train that were ruined by the selfish attitude and actions of people who considered they had the right to pollute the atmosphere and cause people near them to smell as disgusting as themselves!
What about the physical discomforts inflicted on others by their addiction? Asthma sufferers in particular were seriously affected. Another result of a smoky areas was sore, itchy eyes. What kind of fun was that?
All the people I know who smoke would never light up in a room where there were non-smokers, because they cared about their fellow human beings, unlike you Chas Skett!
You must be seriously addicted to tobacco, my smelly 'friend,' but it is possible to find help these days to give it up. Then you could happily join us in your favourite pub again and not have to keep interrupting your game of darts or a fascinating conversation to go out for a fag.
Sulking because you can no longer have your own way and trying to close the pubs shows you to be a very childish and thoughtless person indeed. People like you make my blood boil!
Joy Morgan, Ruardean.
